Experiencing pain or sharp cramps in your caesarean scar doesn't always mean you're in danger. Cramps that feel like strong tightenings in your scar restricting you from moving quickly or getting up can be extremely worrying for many. Not knowing whether your scar is tearing or simply whats happening can be a reason you take a trip to the hospital.
The pains can be mild and become better when you slowly change position or severe that if your laying down stop you from getting up, period. The severe cramps need a few minutes to ease before you can get up and change position.
Tensing or even jerking the abdominal muscles make your scar feel like it is about to tear open and if that's not enough, who knows when the cramp will begin.
However, I can assure you, for the majority of cases these pains are nothing but your muscles and tissues stretching and will quickly resolve itself with a few minutes of not moving. While, in the small minority of women, these cramps may well be a sign of a Uterine rupture or scar dehiscence.
I would like to mention all the women I've mentored or educated have been 100% fine after experiencing between 1-10 minutes of these cramps.
I remember the first time I experienced these cramps; I was so scared because it was so painful. It felt like that feeling I get when I'm sleeping and randomly, my leg locks, and I cant move it because of this excruciating pain that kicks in.
Unfortunately, no one told me if I ever get pregnant after having a c-section, I will experience this. I went through this pain thinking something terrible was happening to me. The pain in my c-section was sharp and strong, and it seemed like nothing would or could alleviate the pain.
Every pregnancy I had after my first c-section I experienced these awful cramps.
Every midwife I saw always told me everything was fine and I went on to have 2x VBA2C, and I'm expecting baby no.5 in 2 months or so.
